Vacation 2

So apparently I only write about vacations… but I just returned from our family excursion to Nashville and back (a road trip sort of deal)! It was awesome! I will post probably hundreds of pictures soon… but to summarize:

8/9 King’s Island: Loved the new Diamondback, hated being doubly embarrassed by not recognizing my ex-bf’s parents who caught me singing to myself.

8/10 Louisville: Great Museum Row reminded me of the short north, got rained out but saw “The Hurt Locker” which was quite quite good.

8/11 Mammoth Cave: One of the most amazing places, we saw the New Entrance and the Frozen Niagra. Dad joked about eating Frankfurters (Germans). Also paid good money to see Dino World and take pictures with our extinct friends.

8/12 Nashville: Went to Carnton Plantation (farm) and heard all about the battle of Franklin (seeing bloody evidence in the house which served as a field hospital for literally hundreds of confederate soldiers). Eerie. Also drove up and down Music Square and saw the “Parthenon,” ate at an Aquarium, and took a ghost tour with crazy girl.

8/13 Nashville/Bardstown: Finished Nashville with Belmont Mansion and continued on to the Old Jailer’s Inn in historic Bardstown. We stayed with Lisa Marie (“if you can remember Elvis, you can remember me”) in an old jail cell which served as the Nelson County, KY Jailhouse from the early 1800s to the 1980s. Creepy also, but no ghostly encounters. Did shots of Jim Beam at the 1770s Old Talbott Tavern.

8/14 Bardstown/Lexington: Went to the Civil War Museum and Maker’s Mark where I dipped my own bottle of bourbon. Then we drove to Lexington, where dad insisted upon seeing District 9 on opening night… it was pretty great, had some dark humor and lots of alien action.

8/15 Lexington: Went to Kentucky Horse Park and saw Man o’ War’s memorial and some pretty tall English Shires.
